Game 26 photoThe Monmouth-Roseville Titans took the lead with 5:03 left in the game and were able to hold off the Illini West Chargers, 45-38, to win the championship game of the 66th Macomb Western Holiday Tournament.

Monmouth-Roseville (14-0) was able to convert 10 fast break points to give them some momentum.

Martel Hunter led the Titans with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Trayvon added 10 points. (

Saukees repeat as third place finishers
Game 25  photoThe Pittsfield Saukees trophy case is getting crowded with trophies from the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The Saukees picked up the third place hardware with a 47-26 win over the West Hancock Titans.

The game was won in the paint where Pittsfield (8-6) outscored the Titans 32-10. The short range game was a big factor in allowing Pittsfield to shoot 63 percent from the field for the contest.

Dalton Hoover scored his 1000th career point during the contest on a thunderous dunk midway through the 2nd period. Hoover finished the night with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Kennedy Kattelman added 13 points in the win. (

Redbirds win 5th place rematch
Game 24 photoThe Metamora Redbirds gained a bit of redemption on two fronts with their 46-35 win over the Camp Point Central Panthers in the fifth place game of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. First, the top-seeded Redbirds were able to take home some hardware after a quarterfinal loss. Additionally, they were able to avenge a loss to Camp Point Central (10-5) in last year's fifth place game.

Ben Friday led Metamora (10-2) with 15 points and 6 rebounds. He was the only Redbird in double figures. (

Plains notches their first win in a trophy game
Game 23  photoThe Consolation Championship trophy is headed to Pleasant Plains. The Cardinals defeated the Brown County Hornets, 77-51, to take home the consolation title.

Pleasant Plains (12-4) outscored Brown County 42-23 in the middle two quarters to pull away. The Cardinals were also able to score 22 points off of Hornet turnovers and the Plains bench outscored the Brown County benc 16-6. (
