The
first game of the 60th Annual Macomb/Western
Holiday Tournament saw the Bushnell-Prairie City
Spartans hit key late 4th quarter free throws to
defeat the Canton Little Giants 49-46. The
Spartans led at the end of every quarter except
the first quarter.
A trio of Spartans scored in double figures led
by Zach Stuaan's double-double of 15 points and
10 rebounds. Robert Martin and Adam Shaw scored
14 and 12, respectively. Canton was led by Derek
Wilcoxen with a game-high 17 points. Jeremy Ball,
Canton's 6'11" center, was held to only 4
points on 1-of-6 shooting. The loss for Canton marks
the first time since 2001 the Little Giants have
been defeated in a first round game.
Bushnell-Prairie City (8-4) advances to Game 13
on Day 2 where they will face the winner of Rock
Falls/Knoxville to be played at 5:00 p.m. Canton
(1-8) will face the loser of Rock Falls/Knoxville
in Game 9 on Day 2 at 9:00 a.m.
