Canton comes back for 56-48 win over Illini Central   December 28, 2006
Cougars go cold in 2nd half
A five point halftime lead disappeared on Illini Central as the Cougars only connected on only four of 27 second half field goals as the Little Giants of Canton came back from a 10 point first half deficit to defeat Illini Central 56-48 in the first round of the 2006 Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament.

The teams would trade leads several times in the second half before Canton (2-5), led by Nate Blessman's 15 points, pulled away late. The Little Giants also got 12 points and 15 rebounds from Kyle Riekena. Canton outrebounded the Cougars 49-33.

Illini Central (6-5) had two players finish with double-digit scoring: Drew Kastner (14) and Alex Adams (13).

The Cougars await the loser of Macomb and Hamilton where they will play at 1:00 in a losers' quarterfinal. Canton moves to the winners' bracket where they will face the winner of Macomb/Hamilton. That game is slated for an 8:00 p.m. start.
