Monmouth-Roseville makes late free throws to beat #4 seed
In a game that featured seven lead changes and three ties, fourth-seeded Pleasant Plains watched as Monmouth-Roseville made late free throws to pull away from the Cardinals 45-33 in quarterfinal action at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament.

Monmouth-Roseville (11-1) overcame a chilly performance from the field in the first half to outscore Pleasant Plains (9-2) 24-11 in the second half to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Ben Gillen led the Titans with 20 points and six steals. Jeremiah Bresnahan added 16.

Evan Baietto led the Cardinals with 13 points.

The Titans advance to the semifinals for the first time since 1981 (as Monmouth) where they will face the winner of Abingdon/Farmington tomorrow afternoon at 1:00. Plains will battle the loser of the Abingdon/Farmington in the 5th place bracket at 9:00 a.m. in Western Hall.

NOTES:
- This is the first-ever meeting between Monmouth-Roseville and Pleasant Plains.
- In 1981, the Monmouth Zippers were crowned tournament champions.
