| The
Abingdon Commandos opened the second half with a
7-0 run to cut a Pleasant Plains halftime lead to
just two points. The game would eventually go
into overtime after a Jake Pierce putback with
:08 remaining tied the game up for Abingdon. The
Commandos allowed only a Pleasant Plains free
throw in the extra session as Abingdon moves to
the 5th place game with a 51-39 overtime win over
tournament newcomer Pleasant Plains. Pleasant Plains (9-3) came
into the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament as the
#4 seed but will be heading home without any
hardware after back-to-back losses.
Corey Gruber led
Abingdon (9-2) with 18 points, 15 of which came
from beyond the arc. David Bergschneider was
6-of-7 from the field and finished with 14 points
and added 14 rebounds for the Cardinals.
Abingdon will play
for the 5th place trophy tonight at 6:30 where
they will face the winner of Canton and
Lewistown.
