Illini West charges into consolation semifinals
Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon was held to just a single point over the final ten minutes as Illini West stayed alive with a 55-21 victory over the Spartans in consolation bracket action at the Macomb-Western Holiday Basketball Tournament.

Illini West (4-4) scored 31 points off of 28 Spartan turnovers and outscored BPCA (4-11) 40-8 in the paint.

For the game, Illini West connected on 51 percent of their field goal attempts and were led in the scoring column by Jacob Schmudlach with 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting. Lance Holtsclaw chipped in with 11 points.

BPCA was led by Skylar VanTine's eight points. The Spartans also set a tournament mark by scoring only 46 points in their two games eclipsing Warsaw's 55 points scored in their two games of the 2002 tournament.

Illini West will face Farmington tomorrow morning at 10:30 at Macomb High School in the consolation semifinals.
