Illini West wins battle of Hancock County teams
Illini West pulled away down the stretch to record a 59-51 consolation championship victory over the Hamilton Cardinals.

The two teams, each hailing from Hancock County, went to the lockerroom tied at the half at 23, but the Chargers were able to build a lead as big as 14 points in half number two.

Hamilton (5-7) was attempting to earn a tournament trophy for the first time since 1994 when the Cardinals took the consolation title over Camp Point Central. Hamilton will leave the tournament as they will enter into a co-op agreement with Warsaw/Nauvoo-Colusa next season.

Illini West (6-4) got a 22 point performance from Jacob Schmudlach as he went 7-of-10 from the field including a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Carson Cody added 11.

Caleb Gray was 6-of-8 from the floor and finished with 13 points for Hamilton. Jeff Dowdall added 12 points and six rebounds.

The two teams shot virtually identical numbers from the field at just over 51% for the game.
