| One
might think that two teams that have been in the
tournament together for the past nine years would
have met more than twice. Especially two team as
good as Farmington and Lewistown have been over
that stretch. But that was the situation as the
Farmers bested Lewistown 49-47 in the days first
quarterfinal matchup at the Macomb-Western
Holiday Tournament. Neither team led by more than five
points in the contest which featured 12 lead
changes and seven ties. Donnie Rose scored on a
layup with :03 remaining to break a tie and give
Farmington (8-1) the win.
Farmington enjoyed
a 31-23 rebounding advantage in a rematch from
the Spoon River Tipoff Classic from earlier in
the season. The Farmers were led by Gabe Ayers
with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Quinton Hatfill
was tops for Lewistown (7-3) with 13 points and
he pulled down seven rebounds, as well. Scott
Parrish and Brent Burrows added 10 each for the
Indians.
