Abingdon's turnovers costly   December 30, 2008
After absence, Raiders earn a chance at a trophy
It's not often a team outrebounds their opponents 40-18 only to lose the game. That's exactly what Abingdon did in a 5th place semifinal today at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The Abingdon advantage on the boards was erased by the 21 turnovers the Commandos committed on the way to their 52-46 loss to Midwest Central.

Abingdon (9-3) was led by Nate Powell's 16 points while teammate Andy Brackett added 14.

Midwest Central, returning to the M-WHT for the first time since 1993, had three players finish with double-digit scoring: Brandon Fisher (14), Ian Gaskill (11), and Keith Munter (11).

Midwest Central will play in tonight's 5th place game at 6:30 p.m. where they will take on Lewistown. Should the Raiders win, it would be only the second time a team from Manito (including Forman) has ever won a trophy. (4th place - 1991)
