| An
iceberg may have brought down the Titanic, but
ice-cold shooting brought down the Titans, 61-34,
this afternoon at Western Hall in the last of the
consolation quarterfinals of the Macomb-Western
Holiday Tournament. Lewistown (8-2) hit a blistering
62.5% of their shots in the second half to pull
away from a Monmouth-Roseville (6-5) squad who
mustered only 20% field goal shooting in the
opening half. It would get worse from there, as
the Titans only made 6 of their 34 (17.6%) second
half field goal attempts. The shooting
differential allowed Lewistown to go on a 20-3
run to start the third quarter.
The Titans are
winless in the tournament since their
championship in 2007. In fact, that championship
game was against the Lewistown Indians.
Alex Bresnahan was
the top scorer for Monmouth-Roseville with 9
points.
Ian Simpson and
Kevin Battefeld each scored 15 to lead Lewistown.
Simpson earned a double-double as he collected 10
rebounds.
Lewistown will
face Western at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Macomb
High School in a consolation semifinal.
