Metamora jumps out to early lead and never looks back   December 29, 2009
Big first quarter helps launch the Redbirds
Metamora scored the game's first seven points and went on to secure a 22-8 lead after the first period and Illini Central could never recover as the Redbirds advanced to the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament semifinals with a 52-34 victory.

Danny Harman complimented his 21 point day-one performance with 18 more in today's game for Illini Central (4-7), but a sub par shooting performance from beyond the arc (1 for 16) for the Cougars added to their troubles.

Kyle Heck dropped in 21 points for Metamora (6-5) on 8 of 11 shooting. Teammate JD Kamp added 10.

Illini Central moves to the 5th place bracket where they will face the loser between Canton and Midwest Central tomorrow morning at 9:00. Meanwhile, Metamora awaits the winner of that contest which tips off at 1:00 p.m. Both contests will be played in Western Hall.
