notches their first win in a trophy game |
The
Consolation Championship trophy is headed to
Pleasant Plains. The Cardinals defeated the Brown
County Hornets, 77-51, to take home the
consolation title.
Pleasant Plains (12-4) outscored Brown County
42-23 in the middle two quarters to pull away.
The Cardinals were also able to score 22 points
off of Hornet turnovers and the Plains bench
outscored the Brown County benc 16-6.
Taylor Staff led Pleasant Plains with 18 points.
Braxton Lanier contributed 15 and Alex Gustafason
added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Justin Volk led Brown County (6-5) with 17 points
while Alex Sheppard added 10 points.
This is the first trophy game Pleasant Plains has
won at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The
Cardinals lost in the third place game a year
ago, they lost in the championship game in 2008
and in the fifth place game in 2007.
This was Brown County's third appearance in the
consolation championship but marked the first
time they lost as the Hornets took home the
consolation championship hardware in 2005 and
2006. |
