| The
Monmouth-Roseville Titans took the lead with 5:03
left in the game and were able to hold off the
Illini West Chargers, 45-38, to win the
championship game of the 66th Macomb Western
Holiday Tournament. Monmouth-Roseville (14-0) was able to convert 10 fast break points to give them some momentum. Martel Hunter led the Titans with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Trayvon added 10 points. Evan McGaughey led Illini West with 10 points and 10 rebounds. This is Monmouth-Roseville’s second title. They defeated Lewistown to win the 2007 championship. Monmouth won the 1981 title prior to its consolidation with Roseville. This is the second straight year Illini West had taken home the second place trophy. Carthage was also the runners up in 2004 prior to the Illini West consolidation. |
