breaks tournament points record in 5th place win
Illini Bluffs Tigers are the fifth place trophy
winner with a 80-48 victory over the Illini West
It was also a record setting performance for the
Tigers' Taylor Bruninga. His 28 point performance
gives a four game tournament record total of
134 point. That breaks the previous record
of 129 points set by David McGinnis of Illini
Central in 1990.
Bruninga also breaks two more records, free
throws made and free throws attempted. He made 57
of 61 from the stripe in four games. Previously
the record for attempts was held by Mark Dohner
of VIT with 43 in 1970.
Most made was held by Hunter Rhodes of Canton in
2013 with 32. Fun fact of the day is that Rhodes
now plays at Northern Iowa, who has been noted to
be making recruiting visits to games at which
Burninga is on the court.
Three other Tigers scored in double
figures. Brock Bower had 15, Cam Scott
tallied 14 and Braden Cox chipped in 11.
Jackson Porter led Illini West with 22 points and
