It was all Liberty early, but they woke a sleeping giant in the second half, as the Farmers of Farmington (11-1) took the first-round game from the Eagles of Liberty (5-7) by a score of 62-47.  Farmington trailed 30-21 at halftime and roared back, outscoring Liberty 41-17 in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

The game was fast-paced, exciting, and had efficient shooting.  Farmington shot 46.8% from the field and Liberty shot 45.5%.  Rebounds were almost a toss-up, as Liberty won that battle 30-28.  The main difference in this contest were points off of turnovers and blocks.  While each team had 18 turnovers, Farmington converted on their opportunities to the tune of 27 points to 11.  The Farmers also won the block party with 5 blocks to the Eagles’ zero.

Farmington was led by Jaden Rutledge, who finished with 20 points, who also added six rebounds.  Other scorers in double-digits were Jarod DePriest with 14 and Dalton Powell with 10.  Coe Jansen grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Liberty had just one scorer in double-figures (Ryan Hedrick with 11 points), but finished with a balanced attack:  Landon Obert (nine points), Jordan Neisen (eight points), and Breiton Klingele (eight points).  Ryan Hedrick finished with a double-double, including a game-high 11 rebounds.

Farmington advances to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the Lewistown and Camp Point Central game to close out day 1.  That game will be Thursday at 9:30 pm.  Liberty will continue through the consolation bracket and will face the loser of the Lewistown and Camp Point Central game.  Their game will be held on Thursday at 2:30 pm.
