Game 12 saw the Indians of Lewistown (12-2) defeating the Eagles of Liberty (5-8) by a score of 62-46.  It wasn’t the most elegant game, as the teams combined for 40 turnovers, but Lewistown used 54.5% field goal percentage and 20 assists in 24 field goals to pull away.  It also didn’t hurt that the Indians’ Cade Beekman had perhaps the best all-around single-game performance in the tourney thus far (22 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, three blocks, and a steal).

The score was 29-12 in favor of Lewistown at the half.  Liberty shot an excellent 50% in the second half but Lewistown shot a blistering 68.4% during the same time frame.  Because of this, the closest deficit that the Eagles could claw back to was 13 points in the 3rd quarter and Lewistown never relinquished their lead.  Each team seemed to be in a pilfering mood, as Liberty had 13 steals and Lewistown had 10 of their own.

As mentioned above, Cade Beekman had an impressive game in all aspects of offense, including 8-of-15 FGs.  Also scoring in double figures for the Indians was Nick Pollitt with 10 points.  Drake Herrick scored nine, Zach Severns had eight, and Kennedy Cleer added seven.

For Liberty, they were led in scoring by Ryan Hedrick’s 16 points.  Landon Obert tossed in eight points and Devin Klauser added seven points.  Ryan Hedrick also had a team-high five rebounds.

Lewistown advances to the consolation semifinals to face the Macomb Bombers at 10:30 am Saturday at WIU’s Brophy Hall.  Liberty has been eliminated from tournament contention.
