Abingdon-Avon’s Tornadoes (8-6) started this game just like their namesake mascot, leveling the hopes of the Pittsfield Saukees (5-8) from the opening tip and walking away with a 59-22 win.  A-Town took a 22-2 lead after the first quarter and expanded the lead to 34-4 at the halftime horn.  Pittsfield had a much better second half, but it was too much A-Town in this one.

The Tornadoes shot a healthy 58.3% from the floor, including 5-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc during this contest.  Pittsfield’s scoring troubles were tied to a 24.2% field goal clip.  The Saukees only scored one field goal in the first half.  The rebound battle, however, was even in this game, as the Tornadoes led that category 23-22.

Abingdon-Avon had three scorers finish in double-figures (Ryan Adolphson with 16, Graham Struhs added 16, and Lukas Tinkham added 10).  Cayden Mahr had a game-high seven rebounds, while Adolphson grabbed six.  Tinkham also dished out a game-high four assists.

Pittsfield was led by Cade Tomhave’s five points.  Jack Palmer and Isaac Shaw each contributed four points.  Will Guthrie finished with a team-high six rebounds.  Palmer also swiped three of the team’s fixe steals.

A-Town advances to the Consolation Championship, where they will meet the Macomb Bombers in the 5:00 pm game tonight.  Pittsfield has been eliminated.
