In the first game of the 5th place bracket, the Crimsons of Jacksonville (3-10) defeated the Rockets of Rockridge (9-6) by a score of 46-39.  This scrappy game featured 18 total steals and 32 total turnovers.  Jacksonville held Rockridge to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters even though the first half was a back and forth battle.  The Crimson held a tight 18-16 halftime lead.

The Crimson came out shooting to begin the third quarter, using a 14-2 run to increase the lead to 14.  Rockridge answered with a 13-1 between the end of the third quarter and to begin the fourth quarter to trim the lead to two.  However, Jacksonville hit five of eight from the line to maintain their lead and finish with the win.

Jacksonville was led by Zack Rose and Carter Hays, who each scored 12 points.  Rose led a trio of Crimson (Noah Newton and Nick Cook) in rebounding with six.  Jacksonville shot 44% for the game and 65% from the charity stripe.  The Crimson also out-rebounded the Rockets 25-18.

Rockridge was led by Riley Fetterer with 16 points and five assists.  Nate Henry contributed with eight points and five rebounds.  Rockridge finished the game shooting 38% from the field and shot two for two at the line but did not have a free throw attempt in the second half.

Jacksonville moves on to the 5th place game where they will face the winner of Illini Bluffs/Farmington.  This will be Jacksonville’s second attempt for a trophy as they captured the consolation championship in last year’s tournament.  Tip-off is scheduled for tonight at 6:30 pm.
