Eureka Team Info
Point Central Team Info
After blowing out their opponents in the
first and second rounds, the Hornets of Eureka (12-4) were
hoping for more of the same.
Camp Point Central’s Panthers (9-4) have been slowing
teams down in this tournament, so they did more of the same.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, they just couldn’t get
their shots to fall (19% FG) and Eureka would go on to win a
convincing semifinal by a score of 43-25.
Eureka didn’t exactly shoot the lights out
either (35% FG), but they out-rebounded the Panthers 39-20 and
dominated the paint (20-8).
The Hornets also received 14 of their points off the
bench compared to only two for Central.
At one point, Central was stuck on 17 points from the
1:26 mark left in the 3rd quarter all the way until
1:59 left in the 4th quarter.
During this time, the Panthers missed 12 consecutive
shots and went from down 22-17 to down 30-17.
Central would get hot in the final 2 minutes, scoring
eight quick points…but by then it was too little, too late.
Eureka was led in scoring by Brady Krile’s
eight points. Matt
Martin had seven points, and Alex Brittain and Trevor Heffren
each added six. Alex
Brittain and Matt Martin both had a game-high nine rebounds in
the effort. Keegan
Zimmerman, who had previously scored 35 in the Hornets’ last
game, was limited to five points and five rebounds.
Camp Point Central was led in both scoring
and rebounding by Lane Ippensen, who had nine and seven,
Ippensen also had the team’s only two blocks.
Hayden Neisen pitched in six points and Jalan Vance added
five of his own to go along with a couple of assists.
Eureka advances to the title game, where
they will attempt to spoil West Hancock’s quest for a repeat
game will be the last game of the day, at 9:30 pm.
Central will take on Monmouth-Roseville for 3rd
place in the 8:00 pm game.
