For the first time since 2015, Monmouth-Roseville will leave the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament with a trophy.  The Titans (10-6) took home a 36-29 win over the Camp Point Central Panthers (9-5) in a defensive struggle.  Camp Point Central has been in this situation before.  Just last year, the Panthers made it to the 3rd place game, and just like last year, they fell in the tournament’s penultimate game.

Both of the baskets had lids in this particular game, as the two teams combined to shoot an unimpressive 29.8% from the floor and 19.3% from beyond the 3-point arc.  The difference in this game was Monmouth-Roseville received some help from their friends in this one, as they outscored Central 12-0 in points off the bench.  In addition, the Titans out-rebounded the Panthers 35-23.

Monmouth-Roseville was led in scoring by guard Jamonny Skinner, who finished with nine points.  Jamari Skinner added seven points.  JC Sells and Reese Kane each finished with six points.  Sells had a game-high 14 rebounds.  Jamari Skinner grabbed seven boards of his own.

Central’s Panthers were paced by Lane Ippensen’s game-high 12 points and team-high seven rebounds.  Jalan Vance pitched in nine points and three steals.

Both teams end the tournament with successful runs.  Monmouth-Roseville takes home the 3rd place trophy and Camp Point Central will depart with the 4th place trophy.
