Farmington's balanced scoring attack (four
players with nine points or more) and stifling defense swallowed
Macomb in this quarterfinal matchup. The Farmers (10-2)
shot 20-28 (71%) from the free throw line and used a 15-5 third
quarter to skate passed the Bombers (2-9). Macomb's Sam
Allen built on a solid tournament with an additional 23 points
in this contest, but it proved to not be enough.
Farmington capitalized on second chance points by a count of
13-4 and converted on several and-one situations. They got
to the line for 28 free throws
and took full advantage by hitting 20 of them. Macomb was
only down by one point after one quarter and by two points at
the half. The third quarter killed them and they scrambled
to shoot only 6-20 (30%) in the second half.
had three double digit scorers in Dalton Powell (14 points), Ben
Martin (12 points), and Blake Springer (10 points). Ty
Anderson added in another nine points and also contributed a
game-high nine rebounds. Farmington shot 15-30 (50%) for
Macomb was led by the aforementioned Sam Allen
with 23 points. Adam Farr -- limited by fouls to just 19
minutes -- still managed to lead the Bombers with seven
rebounds. Here's a crazy stat: Macomb had 10 assists
as a team, and even though nine players got into the
game...every player recorded at least one assist.
Farmington moves into the trophy round and will play in Game 22
(tomorrow, 2:30pm). They will meet the winner of the West
Hancock and Pittsfield game. Macomb will move into the
semifinals of the 5th place trophy, where they will play the
loser of West Hancock and Pittsfield. That game will be
Game 20 (tomorrow, 10:30am).
