Sure, the tournament is named the
Macomb-Western Holiday Basketball
Tournament. Sure, the name
"Western" refers to a high
school. However, that "Western"
is the now-defunct Western High Lab
School at Western Illinois University. Neither Barry nor
West Pike, the two schools who
consolidated at the start of the 2007
school year to create Western High, have
ever participated in the tournament.
Marty Hull
takes over as the head coach of Western
this year.
Last year,
Western knocked Illini Central out of the
tournament which marked the first time
since 1998 Illini Central has failed to
win at least one tournament game.
