2025 Game 22 Recap: Illini West 46, Macomb 43

Semifinal #2 featured a rematch from a December 3rd game between the Macomb Bombers and Illini West Chargers.  The Bombers were looking for a second win and the Chargers were looking for revenge.  In a game that contained five lead changes, five ties, and runs of 10 and 12 points, Illini West gained the victory by a score of 46-43.  Macomb completed a 12-point run early in the fourth quarter, but Illini West answered back with a 10-point run just a few minutes later.  In the end, a 14-8 advantage in the final quarter by the Chargers proved to be the decider.

Illini West (12-3) was led in scoring by Myles Wear’s 18 points on 4-of-4 from the three-point arc and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.  2024 All-Tournament selection Wesley Robertson added 11 points and seven rebounds.  Cash Jones also led the team with three blocks and had seven rebounds, which tied the team-lead with Robertson.  Robertson also led the Chargers with three assists.  Grady Blue’s two steals were a team-high.

Macomb (9-5) received a team-high 11 points from Drew Watson, with an additional nine points from Carter Havens, and eight points from Nick Elbe.  Nolan Hoge’s nine rebounds represented a game-high total to accompany six points.  Havens’s four assists led the Bombers off the bench.  Macomb outrebounded Illini West 30-26, including 13 offensive rebounds that allowed the Bombers to win the second chance points battle 11-4.

The Chargers advance and will face the West Hancock Titans in the Championship game.  Macomb falls to the third place game, where they will face off against the Canton Little Giants.
