The 2020 installment of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament has been canceled due to Covid-19 restrictions on large gatherings. The next tournament will be the 75th event and the committee has exciting plans in store for the big milestone! Stay safe and we will see you next year!  

The Rockridge Rockets claimed their fourth Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament title in seven years, taking a 47-42 decision from the Farmington Farmers in the championship Saturday night. Nate Henry, who scored a game-high 22 points in the final, was named tournament MVP, also Rockridge’s fourth in the same time span. Having already upset the No. 1

The Tornadoes of Abingdon-Avon (10-4) found themselves in a 25-21 deficit at halftime of the 3rd place game against the Titans of West Hancock (9-5).  They closed that gap and left the third quarter tied 35-35.  With the momentum, the Tornadoes took over and closed out strong, winning by eight.  Abingdon-Avon takes home the 3rd

Liberty was paced by the Klingele brothers who combined to score 32 points (17 for Breiton and 15 for Nolton) and eight assists (four each) as the Eagles (10-4) nipped the Bombers of Macomb (3-9) to take the 5th place trophy.  Macomb’s Sam Allen continued his solid tournament with another 19 points.  Liberty shot 64%

Coming into this game, Wethersfield’s Coltin Quagliano had the tournament high score with 32 points.  He tied his own score from that game and his Flying Geese (9-4) sailed passed the Brown County Hornets (7-6) by a score of 61-40.  The Hornets’ Nathan Hendricker finished with a double double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Fourth seeded Farmington (11-2) came out firing in this game and never let up.  The Farmers were ahead 12-6 after one quarter and 30-13 at the half.  They used sound defense and clean passing (only nine turnovers) to take a big win over tournament first seed West Hancock (9-4) by a score of 61-30.  Farmington

The last time Rockridge made it to the tournament’s Championship game (in 2015)…they won it.  In fact, The Rockets won the titles in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  After a close win over Abingdon-Avon (9-4), the Rockets (9-3) will find themselves back in the Championship and will await the winner of West Hancock and Farmington.  Nate

The hometown Bombers (3-9) got off to a quick start and didn’t let off the gas as they come away with the victory over the Saukees of Pittsfield (5-8) by a score of 48-33.  Macomb’s Sam Allen was the only scorer in double figures for either team, as he finished with 22 points on 6-8

The Liberty Eagles (10-4) kicked off the early games in Western Hall with a victory over the Titans of Monmouth-Roseville (7-7).  With that win, Liberty will play for a trophy tonight in the 5th place game.  Balanced scoring by Liberty was the key to winning a physical game that saw a combined 39 personal fouls.

The “Coltin Quagliano Show” continued in the 1st game of the Consolation semifinal game as the Wethersfield Geese (8-4) pulled out the 43-38 victory against the Lewistown Indians (7-7).  A valiant comeback in the 2nd half for the Indians came up just short.  The 2nd quarter was the difference in the game as Wethersfield’s defense only allowed 3 points in
