Game 17 Recap: West Hancock 39, Pittsfield 32

These were the only givens in this game:  The Hornets were going to win and the Hornets were going to lose.  It just happened that the Hornets from Brown County were the victors and the Hornets from Eureka were the defeated.  Brown County (7-5) withstood a 3rd quarter push by Eureka to win 59-49. 

Brown County led after the 1st quarter and at the half.  That lead would soon shrink as Eureka (5-9) took a 39-37 lead after three quarters after outscoring Brown County 18-9.  Brown County finished the game as they started in the first half, outscoring Eureka 22-10 in the 4th quarter to put the game away.

Brown County were led in scoring by Nathan Hendricker with game-highs in points and rebounds with 18 and nine respectively. Joining Hendricker in double-digits was Gabe Blakeley with 14 and Gavin Miller with 10.  Brown County outscored Eureka’s bench 22-0 and made 13 more free throws (15-20 vs. 2-6) to help propel them to victory. 

Eureka was led in scoring by Matt Martin with a game-tying 18 points.  Joining him in double figures with 11 apiece were Aden Sears and Sterling Spencer.  Sears was the team leader with seven rebounds.

Brown County advances to the Consolation championship game tonight (tonight, 5:00pm) where they play the Flying Geese of Wethersfield.
