2023 Game 11 Recap: Pittsfield 46, Brown County 27

The Pittsfield Saukees felt the sting of yesterday’s opening round loss as a seeded team, so they focused their sights on the Hornets of Brown County and came prepared.  They led this game from wire-to-wire and sailed to a 46-27 win over Brown County.  Pittsfield took a 33-13 lead into halftime…and then the shooting for both teams went as cold as the weather outside.  Both teams combined to shoot 14.9% field goals in the second half.

Pittsfield was led in scoring by Javan Petty’s 17 points.  The Saukees’ leading rebounder was Ethan Gratton with six rebounds off the bench.  Konner Allen finished with eight points.  Hayden Gratton dished out five assists.  Pittsfield forced Brown County into 24 turnovers and spun that into 22 points off of those turnovers and eight fast break points.  The Saukees also got the most out of their offensive rebounds, winning the battle of 2nd chance points 12-2.

The Hornets received nine points from Maverick Henry, their leading scorer.  Drew Markert added eight points of his own.  Henry and Markert tied for the game-high in rebounds with seven.  Brown County led the bench scoring by a total of 11 to 9.

Pittsfield (11-2) advances to the consolation semifinals to face the winner of the Southeastern/Illini West game.  That game (Game 18) will be held at Brophy Hall on Saturday morning at 10:30am.  Brown County, unfortunately, has been eliminated.
