2025 Game 25 Recap: Canton 47, Macomb 44

The Canton Little Giants came into the tournament without a trophy since 2016 and was anxious to get back into their winning tradition at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament.  They accomplished that this year, taking down the host Macomb Bombers in the 3rd Place Game by a score of 47-44.  This game featured seven lead changes and a tale of two halves.  Canton took the first half by a score of 35-24 and appeared to have everything under control at halftime.  Macomb stepped up their game in the second half and won the half by a score of 20-12, but it was not enough and fell by three after a missed three-point shot by Drew Watson at the buzzer.  Turnovers were close in this game, as Macomb had 12 and Canton committed 10.  However, Canton took advantage of those turnovers to the tune of a 13-4 score.

Canton’s Sivante Stokes had his best game of the tournament, scoring a game-high 18 points on 9-of-16 (56%) shooting and leading his team with five rebounds and four steals.  Lakon Otto continued his strong tournament, finishing with nine points, four rebounds, four steals, and a game-high six assists.  Braxton Rock pitched in eight points and Gavin Otto grabbed four rebounds.

Macomb was led by Nolan Hoge’s team-high 15 points and two blocks to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds.  Drew Watson also added 13 points and four assists.  Isaac Leinbach collected three steals.  Macomb led in second chance points over Canton 16-9, taking advantage of their 12 offensive rebounds.

Canton earns the 3rd Place trophy and improves to 10-4 on the season.  Macomb falls to 9-6 on the season and takes home the 4th Place trophy, their third straight tournament hardware.
