2022 Game 14 Recap: Camp Point Central 56, West Hancock 52

In the second quarterfinal, we had a nail-biter that wasn’t decided until the last minute of regulation. Tied at 47 with just 1:10 remaining, Camp Point Central went on a 7-0 run, fueled by a Nick Moore 3-pointer, and four free throws from Drew Paben. The Panthers had a 10 point lead in the 1st quarter, but West Hancock battled back and won the next two quarters. One of the big stories in this game were the 22 turnovers committed by West Hancock. It led to 29 points of turnovers for Central.

Central’s Panthers (9-2) got a game-high 20 points from Nick Moore and 10 points from Drew Pabin. Paben’s points mostly came from an 8-for-10 showing at the free throw line. Isaac Genenbacher’s five rebounds led his team and his six steals is a single game tournament-high. Moore shot 8-for-13 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

The Titans (12-3) had two players star in this quarterfinal contest. Luke Jacquot had 18 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Alec Hymes continued his strong tournament resume, finishing with 16 points and five rebounds.

Central continues on to the semifinal round, where they will play Game 21 at 1:00 on Friday against Illini Bluffs. West Hancock has earned a showdown against #1 seed Rockridge in the 5th place bracket. That contest will be Game 19, at 9:00am.
