Game 10 was a rollercoaster of playing momentum between the Rockets of Rockridge and the Panthers of Camp Point Central. Each team shot poorly in the first half and at the intermission, the score was just 15-14 in favor of Central. Then each team traded control of the final two quarters. Rockridge shot 7-of-12 (58%) in the third quarter and outscored Central by a score of 21-5. The fourth and final quarter was all Panthers…as they shot 9-of-16 (56%) and outscored the Rockets 22-9. In the end, Rockridge outlasted Central to take a 44-42 victory in this consolation quarterfinal.
Rockridge was led by Wade Richhart’s 18 points and Lukas McKay’s 13 points. Ryan Daly also added eight points. Richart’s 11 rebounds led the Rockets. Kameron Wilkerson and Chase Wheatley tied for three assists each. Wheatley swiped three steals as well. The Rockets made 15-of-20 free throws, including 9-for-10 from Richhart.
Camp Point Central was led in scoring by Braxton Kestner and Corbyn Hoosier, who finished with 11 points each. Luke Huston added 10 points and Luke Ippensen included another eight. Ippensen’s 11 rebounds led the team and tied for the game-high. Kestner’s three assists and two blocks led the Panthers. Camp Point held the advantage on points in the paint by a total of 18-12 and in the rebounding battle 33-29.
Rockridge continues in the tournament and will play Liberty in the consolation semifinal in Game 17, Tuesday morning at 9:00am. After an unlucky run where they lost two games by a combined four points…Camp Point Central has been eliminated from this year’s event.
