Monmouth-Roseville came into this contest with a 1-7 record, and they were ready to show that they could put it all together and execute a winning strategy. The Titans accomplished that in this consolation quarterfinals tilt with a wire-to-wire win over Bushnell-Prairie City by a score of 65-30. This game was won in the paint, where Monmouth-Roseville won the inside battle 42-12. The Titans also converted 22 BPC turnovers into 31 points – 28 of which were on the fast break.
The Titans had three players score double figures: Clay Casteel (20 points), Nick Huston (16 points), and Cee Sarcomo (10 points). Huston led the team with seven rebounds and Sarcomo added six boards and a game-high seven assists and six steals. Monmouth-Roseville also committed just eight turnovers compared to 16 assists.
Bushnell-Prairie City’s Spartans were led in scoring by De’Arion Ruffin-Thomas, who scored 10 points and Connor Palm’s eight points. Ruffin-Thomas also led the game with eight rebounds. Palm’s three steals were enough to pace the Spartans.
The Titans (2-7) advance to play Tuesday morning at 10:30am at Brophy Hall in the consolation semifinals. They will meet the Pittsfield Saukees in that contest. BPC has been eliminated from the tournament.
