The Rockridge Rockets turned a one point lead at halftime into an impressive 27 point win over the Lewistown Indians 58-31 to take the 5th place trophy. This game had drastically different halves. Rockridge had a slim one point lead after the first quarter (11-10) and a similar lead at the half (20-19). The first half featured four lead changes, and short runs from each team. But in the second half, the Rockets played with purpose. Rockridge shot an impressive 15-for-25 (60%) in the second half, compared to Lewistown’s 3-for-16 (18.8%).
The Rockets were led in scoring by senior forward Nate Henry, who finished his tournament career with 26 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He shot 10-of-15 from the floor and very likely earns another All-Tournament selection. Jase Whiteman added a solid 13 points of his own, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc.
The Lewistown Indians received 14 points from John Ross Hess, following up his previous game’s tournament-high 29 points. Trey Gaston contributed nine points. Blayne Clary wiped the glass with a game-high eight rebounds.
This hardware becomes the fifth trophy that Rockridge has earned in the last eight editions of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The prior four trophies were all of the championship variety (2013, 2014, 2015, and 2019).
