Game 21 Recap: Rockridge 38, Abingdon-Avon 30

The last time Rockridge made it to the tournament’s Championship game (in 2015)…they won it.  In fact, The Rockets won the titles in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  After a close win over Abingdon-Avon (9-4), the Rockets (9-3) will find themselves back in the Championship and will await the winner of West Hancock and Farmington.  Nate Henry put the Rockets on his back, so to speak.  He sank 10-10 from the free throw line and scored 26 of Rockridge’s 38 total points.

Abingdon-Avon received another solid game from All-Tournament veteran Ryan Adolphson, but it was not enough.  Adolphson was held in check for the first half and went into the break with just two points.  The teams combined for zero bench points and Rockridge never trailed.  The Rockets led by as many as 17 points in the late second quarter.

Rockridge only had three players score in this contest.  Nate Henry finished with 26 points on 8-16 shooting and 10-10 from the charity stripe.  Also scoring were Jenson Whiteman (seven points) and Cole Rusk (five points).  Henry and Rusk both tied for a game-high nine rebounds.

Abingdon-Avon had a pair of double digit scorers in Ryan Adolphson (15 points) and Kaden Jones (10 points).  Lukas Tinkham pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Rockridge advances to the title game at 9:30pm against Farmington.  The Tornadoes will play in the 3rd place game at 8:00pm against West Hancock’s Titans.
