2022 Game 3 Recap: West Hancock 51, Canton 48

In the most exciting contest this 2022 event has seen so far, West Hancock edged out the Little Giants of Canton by a score of 51-48. This was a close game throughout the first half, as Canton led 10-8 after one quarter, and West Hancock was ahead 20-18 at the half. The Titans appeared to pull away after the break, however, as the Titans scored the first 10 points of the third quarter to take a 12 point lead. Canton stormed back all the way to a one-point game with 26 seconds to go, when they got a four-point play from Kaden Otto to make the score 49-48. West Hancock was able to secure two free throws by Alec Hymes and held onto the 51-48 victory.

West Hancock (12-2) was led in scoring and swipes by Gage Scott’s 13 points and five steals. This was followed closely behind by Lewis Siegfried’s 10 points, Alec Hymes’s nine, and Luke Jacquot’s nine. Jacquot also secured a current tournament-high 10 rebounds and also swatted three blocks. Siegfried dished four assists to lead his team in the category.

Canton’s (2-9) leading scorer was Kaden Otto, who had a game-high (and so far tournament-high) 19 points. Otto also led Canton with six assists and four steals. Ryan Yerbic was second on the team with 11 points. Cale Barnhart and Dylan Watts each pulled down a team-high six rebounds. The Little Giants did out-rebound the Titans 32-29.

West Hancock advances to face the winner of Game 4 in tomorrow’s Game 14 at 6:30pm. Canton will take their chances in the consolation bracket in Game 10, where they await the losing team in Game 4.
